We're happy to have you. To get started working here in our Local, please come by during business hours to sign the book. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. We only have in person book sign, you will need to come in and see us to get on the book. Please bring an up-to-date dues receipt, OSHA 10 certification or higher and a travel letter from your Local. For more information about the referral process, please refer to our Referral Policy. Before you travel, make sure you are registered on ERTS, contact your home Local to check your registration. 

For travelers seeking long-term accommodations, we have compiled some options below. 

 Attention:

-Anyone performing electrical work in the State of Wisconsin must be licensed.  If you are in need of a license, please refer to the license guide below.

For travelers seeking long-term accommodation within a 50-mile radius of the Port Washington Data Center.  Here are a few Hotel and Motel listings that offer specialized amenities.

Within Port Washington (0–3 Miles)

1.3 miles south. While a standard hotel, it is frequently used for corporate stays near the data center and offers rooms with a separate bar sink, refrigerator, and small microwave.

2.7 miles southeast. A historic property in downtown that offers "kitchens in some rooms" and a guest lounge stocked with treats.

2.8 miles southeast. Specifically marketed as an extended-stay option by Choice Hotels, offering a central downtown location.

1.9 miles south. A traditional roadside motel providing basic, low-cost long-term lodging. 

South (3–50 Miles)

7.9 miles south. A dedicated extended-stay hotel where every suite includes a full kitchen with a dishwasher, stovetop, and cookware.

7.8 miles south. Features kitchenettes in all guest rooms, along with laundry services and a pool.

7.7 miles south. Offers "mini suites" with refrigerators and microwaves; some sources note fully equipped kitchens available for long-term guests.

3 miles south. An economic option for long-term stays with basic amenities and 24-hour staff.

19 miles south. An all-suite hotel designed for stays of weeks or months, featuring full kitchens and separate living areas.

24 miles south. Every suite is equipped with a full kitchenette, including a full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and stovetop.

30 miles south. Purpose-built for long-term stays with on-site laundry and kitchenettes. 

32 miles south. Positioned for affordability, this property is cited as a top choice for work-related long-term stays.

36 miles south. Offers modern suites with full kitchens; specifically designed for long-term stays.

West (3–50 Miles)

14.9 miles west. Offers modern suites with full kitchenettes and is highly rated for its suitability for "staying a while".

16.7 miles west. Known as a budget-friendly option that accommodates many long-term residents.

16.3 miles southwest. Offers larger suites suitable for extended stays with standard kitchenette features.

32 miles southwest. Features spacious suites with full-sized refrigerators and stoves. 

17 miles west. Property is highly rated for long-term stays and includes refrigerators, and microwaves in each room.

18.5 miles west. Long-term friendly options with large refrigerators, in room kitchens, and on-site laundry services.

North (3–50 Miles)

5.6 miles north. Provides rooms with microwaves and mini-fridges; popular for workers visiting the nearby industrial and state park areas.

26 miles north. A dedicated residential-style hotel with full kitchens and separate bedrooms designed for long-term comfort.

20.6 miles north. Offers suites with kitchenettes and has recently been renovated to include upgraded long-term guest amenities.

9.6 miles north. A basic roadside motel that offers affordable rates for multi-week stays. 

30 miles north. Feature rooms with full sized refrigerators, dishwashers, and induction cooktops.

For travelers seeking long – term accommodations within 50 miles of the Port Washington Data Center here are a few RV park listings.

Key Considerations

  • Seasonality: While many open in April, some, like the state parks (Harrington Beach, Kohler-Andrae), may have stricter, or shorter limits compared to private, seasonal, resorts.
  • Booking: For April-December, calling ahead to secure a dedicated seasonal site is recommended for the best rates and availability.
  • Location: The highest concentration of long-term spots is to the west and north in the Kettle Moraine/Fond du Lac area. 

RV Parks with Extended Stay Options (Apr-Nov)

  • Plymouth Rock Camping Resort (Plymouth, WI): Roughly 30 miles North of Data Center. Open April 15 to October 15, this resort features 690 sites and is suitable for extended stays, offering amenities like pools and planned activities.
  • Cliffside Campground (Racine County, WI): Roughly 49 miles South of Data Center. Open from the second weekend in April through October 31, it accommodates up to 45' RVs with full hookup options.
  • Lake Lenwood Beach & Campground (West Bend, WI): Roughly 18 miles West of Data Center. Located in close proximity to Port Washington, offering seasonal, long-term options.
  • Lazy Days Campground (West Bend, WI): Roughly 17 miles NW of Data Center. Known for being a 50-minute drive, this park offers seasonal, long-term options.
  • Sun Retreats/ Fond Du Lac East (Glenbeulah, WI): Roughly 35 miles NW of Data Center. Offers extended stay options with amenities like Wi-Fi and on-site activities, generally open through late fall.

RV Parks that provide year-round options:

  • Wisconsin State Fair RV Park (West Allis, WI): Roughly 32 miles south of Data Center. Full hook up sites, making it a reliable option for extended stays, particularly for work in the Milwaukee area. 
  • Breezy Hill Campground (Fon du Lac, WI): Roughly 41 miles NW of Data Center. 180 sites, some of which provide full hook up throughout the winter.

For reservations and the most current 2026 monthly availability, it is recommended to contact the Wisconsin State Fair RV Park or Breezy Hill Campground directly, as they are the primary options for stays extending into December.

Continuing Education (CEU)

  • Total Hours: 24 hours of state approved continuing education.
  • Deadline: You must complete these hours prior to your annual expiration date.
  • JATC Courses: JATC Courses are available at no cost at meJATC TradeSchool. You must create a TradeSchool account to sign up for courses and seminars.

NOTE: If you fail to renew your license on time, you must complete the 24 hours of Continuing Education within 12 months immediately preceding your new application to re-acquire enrollment.

How to apply for the Registered Electrician license:

  1. Go to ibew494.com: on the top of page go to 'Members' tab and scroll down to 'Wisconsin State License Applications', 'Registered Electrician'.
  2.  DSPS Registration Page: license.wi.gov
  3. Apply for a License: Register as an individual.
  4. Start Application: Account Registration-Fill out personal information then click Register.
  5. Category: Trades
  6. License Type: Registered Electrician,
  7. Pay Fees: Pay the $35.00 fee securely online via credit card or e-check.

Wisconsin Journeyman and Master's license information

Applying for the first time involves a two-step payment process: an initial application/exam fee to get approved for the test, and a credential fee paid only after you pass.

Because Wisconsin uses a fixed 4-year cycle (all licenses expire on June 30th of the same year), the final cost is prorated based on the month you apply.

Journeyman Electrician (Initial)

  • Step 1 (Application & Exam): $130 total
    • Application Fee: $35
    • Exam Fee (Pearson VUE): $95
  • Step 2 (Credential Fee): $100 maximum
    • Note: This is prorated. If you pass in the middle of a cycle, you might only pay $25–$75.

Master Electrician (Initial)

  • Step 1 (Application & Exam): $130 total
    • Application Fee: $35
    • Exam Fee (Pearson VUE): $95
  • Step 2 (Credential Fee): $200 maximum
    • Note: Also prorated based on the 4-year cycle.
